Lester Hay, 61, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and no services are planned.
Lester was born in Guthrie Center, Iowa to Howard and Elda Mae (Harris) Hay, Jr. He graduated from Panora High School and had lived in Dallas Center for the past 40 years. Lester was a welder for over 30 years, retiring from L.A. Fulton & Sons Inc. due to health issues. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, restoring and driving horse-drawn buggies, and hanging out with his friends. Lester always appreciated a cold beer and in the end, he enjoyed spiked lemonade.
Lester is survived by his siblings: Russell Hay and Raymond Hay, both of Monteith, Dick (Phyllis) Hay of Scranton and Patty Godwin of Yale; and an overwhelming number of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
