Obituary

Arveta Edith Mash, 94, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. Services will be held 11a.m. Thursday, February 15, at Dallas Center United Methodist Church, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Brethren Cemetery near Dallas Center.

Arveta was born August 14, 1923, in Gilman City, MO, to Jesse and Ada (Baker) Lovell. She married William Mash on February 17, 1940, in Maryville, MO. They made their home in Dallas Center where they raised their two daughters, Marjorie and LaVaun. Arveta helped her husband with his local trucking business, then became the first female school bus driver in the Dallas Center School District. She later worked at Hy-Line International for 18 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Dallas Center American Legion Auxiliary and a 50+ year member of Dallas Center United Methodist Church.

Arveta is survived by daughter, Marjorie Krause of Wentworth, SD; three grandchildren, Jill (Paul) Scherff of Trent, SD, Bill Torrence of Madison, SD, and Amy (Mike) Fascian of Dallas Center, IA; five great-grandchildren, Carson Fascian, Michael Wallin, Amanda Walters, Shane Torrence, and Brandon Torrence; great-great-grandchild, Taylor Walters; and son-in-law, Merle Baer of Dallas Center, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter, LaVaun Baer, and her siblings, Esther Weddle,Vandell Lovell, and Chester Lovell.
