Obituary

Alan (Al) Stults, aged 72 of Norwalk, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, March 21, 2025. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 28th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Iles Norwalk Chapel where a Vigil Service will begin at 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 am Saturday, March 29th at St. John The Apostle Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Cumming.

Alan was born February 25, 1953 in Glencoe, MN to Royal and Geraldine (Schmidt) Stults. He graduated from Mankato State College in Mankato, MN and went on to get his gunsmithing degree from Southeastern Community College in Burlington, IA. Al proudly served in the United States Army, during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Germany serving as a Military Policeman. Al worked as a gunsmith and retired in 2023. Al found great joy spending time in his shop (multi-purpose room), walking through the timber, deer hunting, and riding his motorcycle - but most of all he loved and cherished spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Al never wavered in his deep faith in our Lord and carried himself with quiet strength, unwavering love and a steadfast presence that could anchor any room. He was a man who never needed the spotlight to shine.

In 1978, Al met the love of his life Clara Soyer at Mankato State College. Al and Clara married on March 1, 1980 and together raised two beautiful daughters.

Survivors include his wife, Clara; children: Jessica Quintanilla of Norwalk and Maggie (Nick) Wilson of Ankeny; grandchildren; David Alan and Victoria Quintanilla; Maizie and Deacon Wilson. Stepdaughter: Patti (Mike) Olsen of Persia; step-grandchildren Lily and Tucker Olsen.
Brothers Terry (Yvonne) Stults and Mark (Kay) Stults. Brothers and Sisters in laws; Glenn (Jane) Soyer, Kathy (Earl) Schiltz, Sherry Slater, Dave (Robin) Soyer, Marlou Soyer, Rich (Michelle) Soyer, Mary (Tony) Thielges, Madonna (John) Stillmunks, Patrick (Michelle) Soyer, Paul (Kelli) Soyer, along with many nephews and nieces. Al was preceded in death by his parents.

We would like to thank Dr. Steve Heddinger and his team at Mission Blood and Cancer along with Nurse Amy and the EveryStep Hospice team for their unending kindness and gentle care they provided for Al and all our family.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Al’s favorite charities; the Fisher House and Hope Ministries.
