Albert Sandstrom Obituary

Albert Marion Sandstrom, 89, of Dallas Center, Iowa died Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Regency Care Center in Norwalk, Iowa. Al was born May 3, 1935 in Adams County, Iowa to Gunnar Wilhelm & Viola Jane (Veatch) Sandstrom.

Al was ‘Leader of the Band’ being well educated and trained to pass on musical skills to all the students he instructed. He touched many generations with that gift. A U.S. Army veteran, husband, dad, grandfather, friend, and mentor just begins to describe his role in life.

Albert was very active with the Camp Mitigwa ORF’s of the Mid Iowa Council, Boy Scouts of America. The Old Retired Folk’s supplied the funds and skills to make ongoing repairs at Camp Mitigwa. When free time allowed he loved to fish.

Survivors include son Loren (Theresa) Sandstrom, son in law John Sechser, sister Marlene (Jim) Wyer, grandchildren Jake & Catie, Courtney & Matt, Nick & Chelsea, Clint & Lisa, Kyra & John, Tim, Bernie & Holly, Carter & Julia, Brie and 16 spoiled great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife Mary Louise (Northup) Sandstrom, parents Gunnar & Viola Sandstrom, daughters Rosanne Sandstrom, Valerie Ann Sechser, and Michele Poulson.

A memorial gathering will be from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, Friday, February 21, 2025 at Iles Brandt Chapel, 1301 Ash Street, Dallas Center, Iowa 50063. Interment will take place on Sunday, February 23, 2025, 1:00pm, West Fairview Cemetery, Lenox, Iowa next to his beloved wife Louise.
