Obituary

Alma "Arlene" Ward, 90, Lee's Summit, MO passed away April 1, 2012 at Lee's Summit East Hospital in Lee's Summit, MO. Visitation and the funeral service will be held at Iles Funeral Home - Brandt Chapel, in Woodward, IA. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 3rd between 10:00 – 10:45 AM with Arlene's funeral service following visitation at 11:00 AM. Burial Services will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Perry, IA. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice or American Cancer Society.

Arlene Ward was born December 22, 1921. Arlene was a registered nurse graduating from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Des Moines, IA. She served as a nurse in the Navy during World War II, retiring from Woodward State Hospital after 22 years of employment. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Woodward, IA and Blue Ridge Methodist Church in Raytown, MO. After retirement she enjoyed cooking, Raytown Silver Streaks, winter's in Texas and being with family and friends.

Survivors include her sons, Larry D. Ward, Sr. and his wife, Yvonne of Osceola, IA, Robert A. Mitchell and his wife, Shirley of Mason City, IA and Gary L. Ward and his wife, Jennifer of Lee's Summit, MO; daughter, Helen Kuntz and her husband, Garry of St. Ansgar, IA; and ten grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
