Obituary

Aloris Abbott, 74, died April 13, 2006 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. The cause of death was respiratory \ heart failure. Her funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 17 at Zion Lutheran Church in Des Moines, with burial at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 16 at Westover Funeral Home.

Aloris Abbott was born July 22, 1931 in Maynard, Minnesota, the youngest of ten children to Bernt and Melvina Docken. Following high school, Aloris moved to Des Moines, to attend Broadlawns School of Nursing, graduating in 1952. She spent her professional career as a licensed registered nurse at Iowa Methodist Hospital, Drs. Lyons and Uchiyama office, and V.A. Medical Center in Des Moines, where she retired as an operating room nurse supervisor following 24 years of service. During her career, she was active in the Association of Operating Room Nurses and the VFW Auxiliary. Aloris was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, an avid Iowa State Cyclone and Chicago Cub fan, and loved fishing. She was a friend to all.

Aloris is survived by her loving husband of 19 years, Roy; daughters, Dianne Weber (Blake) of Urbandale and Susan Milewski (Greg) of Kingwood, Texas; stepson, Derek Abbott (Mary) of Ankeny; stepdaughter, Cindy Roby (Chad) of Des Moines; brothers, Harry, Orien (Evelyn) and Luverne Docken, all of Minnesota; sisters, Bernie Haley (of Illinois) and Evelyn Peterson (of Minnesota); grandchildren, Brady Weber (Hilary), Brian Weber (Diane), both of the Des Moines area, and Lou and Joe Milewski of Kingwood, Texas; step-grandchildren, Andrew and Rachel Abbott, and Jack Roby of the Des Moines area; and one great-grandchild, Jackson Weber.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Ricketts; brother, Roland (Bud); and sisters, Mildred Seger, Arleen Christiansen and Ruth Thompson.

Aloris will be deeply missed and loved always by her family and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church in memory of Aloris Abbott.
