Obituary

Alvera Esther “Fritzi” Mindermann (96) passed away peacefully December 6, 2025 (her husband’s birthday) with snow falling outside her window and family present.

School and then attended Teacher’s College in Staples.

She was united in marriage to Harold Mindermann on May 8,1953 in Frazee, Minnesota. He gave her the name, “Fritzi” and it stuck. They moved around Minnesota and Iowa for Harold’s career, finally settling in Urbandale, where they lived for most of their lives. In 2023 she moved to an apartment at Walnut Ridge in Clive.

After teaching for several years, she worked as a seamstress, tailor, homemaker and secretary. She was a founding member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and the Urbandale Golf and Country Club. She loved to golf, garden, play cards especially bridge, do crossword and jigsaw puzzels, needlepoint and sew. She rarely missed an Iowa State football game or a Sunday morning church service. She traveled with her husband for many years, visiting Europe, Australia, New Zealand and the Caribbean, as well as many places in the United States. She was most happy when she was with her family and friends. Fritzi had a welcoming smile and was well loved by everyone she knew.
