Alyce M. Dickson passed on to eternal glory on Tuesday, September 28, 2004 at Taylor House in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 1 at Unity Lutheran Church, E. 33rd and Indianapolis, Des Moines, with burial at Memory Gardens in Iowa City.

Alyce was born September 27, 1924 in Iowa City to Woodbury and Charlotte Taylor. She was married to Joe E. Dickson on May 6, 1942 in Iowa City and traveled with Joe to various military training stations prior to his being shipped overseas. After the war, Alyce and Joe made their home in Iowa City until they moved to Des Moines in 1956, where they resided the remainder of their lives. Alyce's joy in life was her family and friends.

Alyce retired from Meredith Corporation in the early 90's and later from Iowa Methodist Medical Center where she worked many years. Alyce was also active in her church and the American Legion Auxiliary, Argon Unit #60.

Alyce will be missed by her son, Robert (Nanette) of Mesa, AZ; sister, Dodie Palik of Des Moines; two grandsons, Rob (Annette) and Ryan (Amy) of Des Moines; and three great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends. Alyce was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her son, Joe E. Dickson, Jr.

The family will meet and greet friends after the service at the church in Des Moines, before proceeding to the burial in Iowa City. Memorials may be made to Taylor House or Unity Lutheran Church.
