Anna B. Gardner, 48, died Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at Hospice Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Anna was born August 18, 1958 the daughter of Dr. J H and Mary Gardner in Eugene, Oregon. She moved to Iowa 40 years ago and with her husband David Marlow, lived the last 22 years in the Pilot Mound area.

Anna worked part time at Iowa State University helping students with their electronic portfolios in the Horticulture department and Food Science department. Anna was a freelance botanical and medical illustrator and designed web pages. She also was an artist who exhibited at the Smithsonian Craft Show in Washington, DC, a musician and an avid organic gardener. Anna was a full time mother to her son Gavin and the pillar of her family.

Anna is survived by her husband, David; son, Gavin Gardner Marlow of Iowa City, father, Dr. J H Gardner of Davenport; mother, Mary Gardner of Boone; sister, Sarah Gardner (Tom Frolick) of Des Moines; brother, Hugh Gardner of Kansas City, KS; niece, Rivkah Gardner-Frolick; sister in laws, Sandra Smith of Burt and Barb Robinson (Richard) of Dow City and their families; step sister and brothers, Khristine Rogers, Peter Svebakken and Hans Svebakken and their families. She was preceded in death by her step mother Kay Gardner.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Planned Parenthood of Iowa, the Iowa Native Plant Society or Hospice of Central Iowa.
