On November 17th, 2009 at Kavanagh House in Des Moines Iowa, Arline Maher Lozier, 87, ended her earthly journey with the same grace and beauty she lived her life, surrounded by her family.

The daughter of Christian Freas and Ann Jenkins Ash, Arline was born October 22, 1922 in Kingston, PA. Following high school, Arline moved to New York City where she studied music and modeling. Soon after, she and her parents moved to Pensacola, FL where she met her first husband Navy Lt. John Joseph Maher of Springfield IL. John passed away in October 1967. Together they are survived by their three children Judith Bailey (Mike) Blaine WA, Meinard "Nardi" Jones (Duane), Des Moines and Judson Maher, Salt Lake City UT. In 1978, she married Richard W. Lozier, Sr. of Des Moines. They were together until his death in 1994. Arline is also survived by her grandchildren Shannon Piserchio (Gary), Brandon Jones, Bryce Jones, Lauren Stout (Matt), Erin Maher and three great grandchildren Holly, Duncan and Claire. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Vernon Ash, grandchildren Elliott and Allie Maher.

Arline was loved and respected by all who knew her and was known for her positive attitude, her kind words of encouragement and a great desire to spread joy. She will be remembered for her unique sense of humor, her love of flowers, bright colors, and golf.

Arline enjoyed a successful career as a Sr. Agent with The Principal Financial Group, Richard E. Olson Agency for 16 years. As a pioneer female agent, she was a member of The Des Moines Life Underwriters Assoc. and Million Dollar Round Table. She was a member of Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ, where she served as soprano soloist for 36 years. In addition, she served as a Stephen Minister and was active in Frisbie Club. She was also a member of PEO Chapter FY.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Good Brotherhood Fund at Scottish Rite Park or her church.

Visitation will be from 4:30-7:00 on Thursday the 19th at Dunn's Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday at Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ. A private Interment will be held prior to the service at Glendale Cemetery.
