Obituary

Arvilla Gammelien, 80, died Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at her home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 27 at Hope Lutheran Church, of which she was a member. Burial will be prior to the service on Saturday at 10:00 a.m., at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Arvilla was born in Long Prairie, Minnesota and had lived in Des Moines for the past 46 years. She was a home maker and loved spending time with family. She also enjoyed vacations at the lake and watching her grandchildren’s baseball and softball games.

Arvilla is survived by her daughter, Shirley (David) Miksell of Ankeny; grandson, Jacob Miksell of Ankeny; granddaughters, Amy (Paul) Simpson and Ashley Gammelien both of Des Moines; and her great grandson, Ethan Simpson of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane Gammelien; son, Ronald Gammelien; brother, Dale Kleinschmidt; and sister-in-law, Lyla Mae Wolter.

Friends may call after 4:00 p.m., Friday, October 26, with her family present from 6 – 8:00 p.m., at Iles Funeral Homes – Grandview Park Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Lutheran Church or Hospice of Central Iowa.
