Barbara Nadine Wenger, 90, passed away Monday, May 1, 2023, at Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center, IA. Per Barbara’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded and a private family service will be held at a later date.

Barbara was born August 9, 1932, in Weldon, IA, to Clyde and Christina (Weed) Husted. She married Lloyd Wenger on December 1, 1950.

Barbara was an extraordinary woman. Her love for Lloyd led her to embrace farming and she worked along with him in the fields and with the animals, keeping the home running (celebrated as an Iowa Master Farm Homemaker in 1973), and raising their children. Her love for God led her to positions in the church as Sunday School teacher, youth group leader, church organist, pianist and deaconess. She had a very special gift of hospitality, always making everyone feel
welcome. She and Lloyd spent part of their retirement in Bata, Central African Republic working to support the mission staff. She loved God, Lloyd and her family deeply teaching them not only with her words, but also by her actions, to love God and to serve Him.

Barbara is survived by her children, Nadine (Byron) Leas of Chesapeake Beach, MD, Bob (Vivian) Wenger of Ponte de Lima, Portugal, and Mick (Lori) Wenger of Adel, IA; eight grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lloyd Wenger, all her siblings, and her granddaughter, Audrey Wenger.
