Bess Moscow Booth, of Foster City, CA (formerly of Des Moines) died peacefully on May 28, 2011 at the age of 91. Beloved wife of the late Hyman Booth, loving mother of Goldynne "Dynnie" Booth, Alan (Andrea) Booth, Marlene Booth (Avi Soifer), Michelle Booth, and Stuart "Yisroel" (Judy) Booth; adoring grandmother of 17 and great-grandmother of 14.

An avid walker, reader, and doer of good deeds, Bess entertained in her kitchen, feeding generations of family and friends hearty meals as well as her famous brownies, sticky rolls, and mandelbread.

She worked as activities director at the Iowa Jewish Home, graduated from North High School in 1938, was an active lifelong member of Beth El Jacob Synagogue, and studied at the Talmud Torah of Des Moines. Bess loved to be with people and adored her family. All who knew her felt blessed by her infectious warmth and sweetness. A lifelong learner, Bess studied speed reading, ballroom dancing, Yiddish, and many other subjects. She consistently showed by her actions how to be a kind, just, and exceptionally generous person.

Funeral services will be held graveside at Jewish Glendale Cemetery, 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 1st. Memorial donations may be made to Beth El Jacob Synagogue.
