Betty Jane Waldridge-Pohl, 88, passed from this life on Thursday, February 11, 2010, at the Madrid Home in Madrid. In agreement with Betty's wishes, cremation rites had been accorded. There was no visitation held. A memorial service honoring Betty's life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2010 in the Sanborn Memorial Chapel at the Madrid Home. Burial of the cremated remains will follow at Peoples Cemetery, north of Bouton.

Betty was born on November 10, 1921 in Bouton, Iowa to Ira Elsworth and Velma Cora (Shannon) Dissinger. She was a graduate of Newton High School, in Newton, where she had lived. Betty married Robert Ogle Waldridge and their marriage was blessed with three children, Lynda, Diana and Robert Jr. In 1980, Mr. Waldridge preceded Betty in death. She later married Lester Edward Pohl and he also preceded her in death. Betty had resided in Waukee, Iowa, and was formerly employed with Dallas County Nursing Home as a Nurse's aide until her retirement. In 2000, she moved to Madrid, Iowa, and then moved to the Madrid Home nearly seven months ago, where Betty had attended the Sanborn Memorial Chapel at the Madrid Home for worship services.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by two daughters, Lynda (Peter) Conis of Boulder, CO and Diana Marie (Robert) Jensen of Detroit Lakes, MN; son, Robert Ogle Jr. (Irene) Waldridge of Shakopee, MN; one sister, Bonnie Dunnihoo of Woodward; four grandchildren, Christopher Jensen, Stephana Ryder, Julie Jensen and Breah Waldridge; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her first husband, Robert Waldridge; and second husband, Lester Pohl; Betty was preceded in death by two sisters, Fern League and Doris Wilmont.

In lieu of flowers, the family has respectfully requested that any memorial contributions be made to the Madrid Home.
