Betty Lou Reichenbacher of Des Moines, died Saturday, August 30, at Calvin Community. Betty was born on October 21, 1915 in Peoria, Illinois to Richard E. and Tessie (Hixson) Phelps. She has resided in Des Moines since 1951.

Betty was a homemaker and worked for seven years as a clerk for the Area II Educational Association in their Film Library, retiring in 1973. She was a 57 year member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where she belonged to a women circle and the United Presbyterian Women. She was also a member of a Chapter TTT Women's Club. In the 1950's, Betty drove the Red Cross Station Wagon for children when the City of Des Moines was building the Easter Seals Center on 30th Street.

Betty is survived by her sons, Jay P. (Jeanne) of West Des Moines and Dennis R. of Bettendorf, IA; and her dearly loved grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, to whom she was married to for 66 years; a daughter Anita Kay Pearson; a sister, Jean Steward; and her parents.

Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, September 4, at 2 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held, Wednesday, September 3, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Iles Funeral Homes, Westover Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the John Stoddard Cancer Center in Des Moines.
