Betty M. Strait Obituary

Betty M. Strait, 84, died Saturday, December 31, 2022 at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone. Private family services will be held.

Betty was born March 25, 1938 in Madrid to Merle, Sr. and Gladys (Higby) Snider. She was the second of nine children.

On December 13, 1975 she married John Strait. They moved to an acreage south of Perry where they raised several small animals and had a large vegetable garden. She also enjoyed planting flowers and decorating her home for each season and holiday.

She retired in 2000 as a State of Iowa employee for 27 years.

Survivors include her children: Roger (Kris) Peterson of Madrid, Debbie (Lowell) Hurley of Boone, Laurie Brown of Sun City, AZ; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sister: Connie LaValley of Madrid.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; son, David Peterson; siblings: Jerry, Billy, Larry, Danny, Ronnie, Carol and Marla.
