Obituary

Blanche Drobnich, 96, of Granger passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at the Madrid Home. The family will greet friends Sunday, May 6 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Granger. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, May 7 at the United Methodist Church with interment to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Madrid.

Blanche was born December 10, 1915 in Granger, Iowa to John and Mary Smith. She was a 1933 graduate of Granger High School where she met Albie Drobnich. They were married on August 31, 1940.Blanche attended Simpson College; she taught at Grant Rural School and then in Granger for many years. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church where she served as choir director, and then church organist beginning in the 1970's until her retirement.
She is survived by daughters, Rosemary Thompson of Darien, IL and Jane (Jim) Eklof of Clive; son, Frank Drobnich of Woodward; and granddaughter, Jennifer (Jason) Snider of West Des Moines. Blanche was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Albie; brother, Wade Smith; and sisters Opal Jones, Faye Harney and Paula Holmes.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at the Madrid Home for their care and compassion for Blanche. In lieu of flowers, the family has respectfully requested that any memorial contributions may be made to the Madrid Home.
