Bonita Ann Phillips was born to Loyd R. Phillips and Caroline (Christensen) Phillips on September 2, 1922 in Ft. Dodge, IA. She passed away on April, 2, 2015, at the age of 92. After graduating from Algona High School in 1939, she completed a secretarial program at AIB. Later in life she attended DMACC earning the title of Certified Professional Secretary, an accomplishment that made her very proud. She was the Director of the Regents Iowa Board of Engineering Examiners. Bonnie was very active in many organizations such as PTA, Mother Singers, PWP, and welcomed leadership roles such as Secretary, President, and Newsletter chairman in each of them.

Bonnie was married to Norman G. Fagerstrom on June 14, 1942 in Denver, CO, where he was stationed in the Army Air Corps. Bonnie and Norm had 5 children prior to his passing away in November 1965. Norm and Bonnie owned and operated Fagerstrom Construction Company. Bonnie loved to dance and was instrumental in forming the Castle Dance Club and Club 76. On April 23. 1983, she married Cecil E. Drew in Des Moines, IA. He preceded her in death in 1986. They enjoyed travel and dancing.

Bonnie is survived by her children: Donna (Brian) Nelson, Nancy (Kyle) McCard, Bruce (Vicki) Fagerstrom, and Lynne Kowalczyk; her eight grandchildren: Janet (Tom) Orzechowski, Kirsten (Ken) Williamson, Caroline McCard, Andrew (Megan) McCard, Michael Fagerstrom, Kinzie Fagerstrom, Jonathan Kowalczyk, and Norman Kowalczyk; and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her step children: Raymond (Barbara) Drew MD; and P. Jeanne (Charles Kolb) Drew MD; and three step-grandchildren: David Drew, Brian Drew, and Kathryn Fraley. She was preceded in death by her parents: Loyd & Caroline Phillips; her sister, Marjorie Bowen; her husbands Norman Fagerstrom and Cecil Drew; a son, Norman G. Fagerstrom, Jr. and a step-son Gerald Drew.

Please share your fond memories of Bonnie online at Visitation will be 4-6pm, Monday, April 6, 2015 at the Iles Dunn's Chapel and 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, April 7 at Covenant Presbyterian Church in West Des Moines. Burial will follow the service at Glendale Cemetery.
