Brad Van Doren, 25, died Tuesday, December 10, 2013, in Philadelphia, PA. An informal gathering to celebrate his life, including a potluck meal, will be held from 2-4:00 p.m. Saturday, December 21, 2013, at Grandview Park Funeral Home in Des Moines. Brad loved to grill, and certainly wouldn't want a formal event. At least once he said he'd want a party, and so we'll honor that. Please bring a dish to eat and share. Iowa Steak, his employer, has donated a case of meat, for which we're grateful.

Brad was born October 19, 1988, in Hershey, PA. An Army veteran and sales professional, his life took him to many places, including Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, New York, Tennessee, and Iowa. He moved to Philadelphia less than two months ago. Brad called many places home, literally and figuratively. Sometimes it seems that he chaffed if he stayed in one place too long. He enjoyed working with his hands, from construction to drawing, and was especially proud of some of the artwork he'd done over the years. His tattoos were a part of this. He also enjoyed working with people. He was an extrovert, and always could make his presence felt in a room. Being a big handsome ox helped with that, too. He was good at sales, and enjoyed the road—whether with his motorcycle, truck, or car. Speed limits and Brad did not get along…

Brad has a large and diverse, both geographically and by age, family. After all, over the last year he often seemed perplexed that he had a new sister, Kira, who was younger than his own son. He has two sets of parents who love him, a son he loved and wanted to do right by, and many others who cared for him. Survivors include his mother, Chase Corley and Ryan Wilson of Iowa; father, William Emery Feldser and Tammy Jo Lawrence Feldser of Tennessee; son Seth Lee Lewis; and siblings Amber, Ashley, James, Johnny, Kira, Matthew, Preston, Sydney, Victoria, and Zachary; and a variety of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Memorial contributions to defray the cost of Brad's funeral may be made in care of Grandview Park Funeral Home and a trust fund is also available for Seth. More details about these can be had at the event, found on Facebook, or gathered by contacting his mother. On-line condolences are welcome at
