Brian Doyle, 50, died Sunday August 30, 2009, at home in Waukee following a several month battle with stomach cancer. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waukee, of which he was a longtime member. Burial will be at the Veteran's Cemetery in Van Meter.

Brian was born November 10, 1958, to Francis and Joanne (Needham) Doyle. He graduated from Urbandale High School in 1977 and enlisted in the Army and was active duty for 2 years in Germany. He returned to the United States and has been employed by the Bulk Mailing Center the past 23 years. Brian remained active in the Army Reserves and served our country in Kuwait from 2005 to 2006. He was a member of the American Postal Worker's Union Local #7027 and the Adel-Waukee Knights of Columbus Council 9574. Brian most enjoyed good music, playing his bass guitars, drums, fishing, maintaining a beautiful lawn and spending time outdoors with Happy Jack, his faithful young Golden Retriever.

Brian is survived by his loving wife of 7 years, Gloria of Waukee; parents, Francis and Joanne Doyle of Urbandale; four sisters, Katy Raasch, Margaret (Bob) Elliott, Therese (Ken) Richardson all of Urbandale, and Eileen Doyle of Ankeny, one brother, Kevin (Marianne) Doyle of Des Moines; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and over 70 first cousins. Brian was preceded in death by his daughter Hannah Linnea Doyle.
