Brian McKenzie Obituary

Brian David “Big Mac” McKenzie, 44, of Bondurant, Iowa, passed away on October 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on March 21, 1981, Brian lived a life full of laughter, loyalty, and love. He worked for the City of Des Moines for 24 years, where he was known for his dedication, strong work ethic, and willingness to lend a hand whenever someone needed it.

Brian was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Jennifer McKenzie, with whom he shared 25 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a family filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. He was a proud father to Isaac (Kyra) McKenzie, Ethan McKenzie, and Jazlynn McKenzie, and a devoted grandfather to Jaxson.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer; children, Isaac (Kyra) McKenzie, Ethan McKenzie, and Jazlynn McKenzie; grandson, Jaxson; his father, Mike (Jean) McKenzie; siblings, Rebecca McKenzie, Melissa (Shad) Walker, Jason (Susan) McKenzie, Jolene (Josh) Robertson, and Theresa (Mark) Myers; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Tammie Sposeto; sister-in-law, Amanda (Ned) Sposeto; brothers-in-law, Andrew (Becky) McNeer and Christopher (Jen) Sposeto; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews who will deeply miss his big heart and generous spirit. He was preceded in death by his mother, Susan McKenzie.

Brian will be remembered for his unwavering love for family, his kindness, and his willingness to help anyone in need. His presence brought light and laughter to every gathering, and his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., and funeral services will take place on Friday, October 31, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with a luncheon to follow. Services and visitation will be held at Southeast Polk Family Church, 877 NE 64th St, Pleasant Hill, Iowa 50327.
