Byron Lodwick, Jr., 80, died Tuesday, January 10, 2006, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 14, 2006 at Central Presbyterian Church.

Byron was born on May 30, 1925 in Fayette, Iowa to Byron and Alva (Gaarder) Lodwick. He graduated from Shortridge High School in Indianapolis and attended Indiana University for a year and then graduated from the University of Michigan. Byron served in England, France and Germany with the U.S. Army during WWII and also took Officer’s Training at the Citadel.

In 1950, he married Jean Thorpe of Algona.

Byron was involved with a car dealership in Tama, IA and banking in western Iowa. He also served as General Manager of a magazine subscription company for Look Magazine before retirement. Byron was an avid Cubs, Iowa State and Michigan fan.

Byron was a 52 year member of Central Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder. He also was a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity.

Byron was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James of Denison. He is survived by his wife, Jean; two sons, Byron III of Des Moines and Burton (Kelli) Lodwick of Grimes; and three grandchildren, Aurora, Dillon and Isaac.
