Carmen Light Obituary

Carmen Paulene Light, 67, passed away in the comfort of her home with loved ones by her side on July 10, 2024. A visitation and a memorial service will take place on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at the Iles Westover Chapel, 6337 Hickman Road, Des Moines. The visitation will be held from 12:00 - 2:00 pm, and memorial services will begin at 2:00 pm.

Carmen was born March 18, 1957 in Des Moines, Iowa, to Eugene and Velta (Roff) Light. She grew up in Pleasantville, Iowa. Carmen married Danita Blessing on August 12, 1995, and welcomed their wonderful son, Trevor Blessing Light, into this world on August 22, 1997.

Carmen loved music. She had a beautiful voice and played the piano, guitar, and drums. Winning a jackpot at a local casino was a favorite pastime, along with games with friends and golfing with Trevor. Her most loved job in life was running her own business, Time To Spare.

Carmen is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Velta Light; father-in-law Gary Blessing; and her grandparents. She is survived by her loving wife, Danita Blessing; son Trevor Blessing Light; sisters Ruth Ann (Danny) Calhoun and Rita Dunkin; mother-in-law Judy Blessing; sisters-in-law Chris (Brian) Lake, Pam (John) Scott, and Susie (Mike) Adam; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
