Cecilia Goddard Obituary

Cecilia “Ce” E. Goddard, 79, of Ankeny, Iowa, formerly of Tucumcari, New Mexico and Amarillo, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at home with family, after battling Alzheimer’s and severe illness.

Ce was born December 4, 1945, in Las Vegas, New Mexico to Cecil Walker and Amy Bowers. Her father was a cattle rancher and ran a sawmill, while her mother was a nurse for the U.S. War Department.

Ce was a strong, determined woman, with a feisty personality and a big heart, always looking out for those less fortunate. She made a great impact in the lives of many children and families.

Ce loved crafts and decorating, and was the go-to person for flower arrangements for weddings and special events, and for making costumes for church plays. Her grandchildren have fond memories of all the crafts they did with their Nana.

Ce was preceded in death by her father and mother; her husband, Jerry Goddard (2020); and her only sibling and sister, Laura, and brother-in-law, Tom. She is survived by her son, Shane Goddard (wife, Sharla) of Texas; daughter, Amy Goddard of Iowa; 3 grandchildren, Casey, Ashley, and Dominic; 5 great-grandchildren, Jesse, Emma, Elliana, Ethan, and Marie; many nieces and nephews, other relatives, loved ones, and friends.

A private family gathering will be held to commemorate Ce’s memory.
