Obituary

Charles Howard Sears passed away on November 9, 2025, in Des Moines, IA, at the age of 74. His health had been declining over the past few years. He never complained and always pulled through each health issue until pneumonia set in and he lost that battle.

Chuck was born on August 24, 1951, the son of Howard and Jean (Clapsaddle) Sears. He was the second oldest of four children. He graduated from Roosevelt High School and was a star pitcher for the baseball team. Chuck liked to cook his own steaks after games or whenever he was hungry. He enjoyed hunting pheasant and made a mean rabbit stew, needless to say, he could make a delicious crockpot meal. He also had a sweet tooth that favored Hersey's chocolate bars and Jelly Beans.

Chuck worked as a truck driver for the U.S. Postal Service, where he eventually retired.

Chuck loved his two sons, Michael and Charlie, and adored his granddaughters, Taylor and Lilly.

He is survived by his sons, Michael and Charles; two granddaughters, Taylor and Lilly; his sister, Linda Pearson (Doug); sister-in-law, Sandy Sears; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Howard Sears; his mother, Jean Sears; and his brothers, Denny Sears and Don Sears.

Rest in peace, Chuck. Your family and friends will miss you.

A burial service for family and friends will be held in the summer of 2026 at the Galva East Township Cemetery in Galva, IA.
