Lindy was a proud member of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 347 where he would have received his 70-year pin in 2021, Za Ga Zig Shrine, of which he was a Charter Member of the Shrine Bowlers Unit, Royal Order of Jesters, Eastgate Masonic Lodge, York Rite Bodies, and the Des Moines Reciprocity Club.

Lindy served on the Board of Directors for Iowa State Bank, the City of Pleasant Hill, Iowa Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council. He grew his love for the Lord while a member at Pleasant Hill Free Church, formerly Carbondale Evangelical Free Church, and NewLife Church, both located in Pleasant Hill.

Lindy cherished friendships he had nurtured from childhood and those of friends he had met throughout his life. With these friendships came memories too many to mention. He loved deeply, generously and unconditionally.

Lindy was a loving and devoted husband to his wife Linda for 66 years at the time of her passing in June of 2015.

Lindy and Linda, enjoyed many years as residents of Arizona. It was a love they developed together and left only as his beloved became ill and he brought her home to be near family. Lindy later went back to Arizona where he would spend the winter months with his daughter, Jodi and her husband Jack, riding his side by side in the desert and mountains, and sharing happy hours with new friends.

Family left to cherish his memory are his five daughters, Linda "Jodi" (Jack) Jones, Charla (Don) Davidson, Valerie (Randy) Palmer-Fitch, Kim (Randy) Constable, and Stephanie (Randy) Boat; grandchildren, Wendee Day, Derek Baldwin (Jade Ahrens), Hollie Davidson, Amy Baldwin, Cory (Stephanie) Constable, Dr. Nick (Angela) Palmer, Casee (Andy) Woodley, Martin (Kim) Mohler, Jr., and Hannah (Frank) Farrell; eight step-grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; his brother, George (Marge) Brown of Des Moines; his sister, Alice Crawford of Marion; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Brown of Johnston, Norma Felice of Des Moines, and Joy Duffy of Norwalk as well as many other family who loved and cherished him.
