Obituary

Christine Terry Wierson, 90, died Sunday, August 31, 2008 at Valley View Village in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Iles ~ Grandview Park Funeral Home in Des Moines. Graveside services will be 12:00 PM Thursday at the Radcliffe Cemetery in Radcliffe, Iowa.

Christine was born December 3, 1917 near Blairsburg, Iowa in Hamilton County. She was one of 9 children born to Garland and Mary (Hoag) Terry. She was a 1935 graduate of Webster City High School and went on to receive her bachelor and Master Degrees in education.

On November 28, 1940, Christine was united in marriage to Alfred Wierson at the Methodist Church in Radcliffe. She taught First Grade in the Radcliffe Community Schools for 44 years and retired in 1983. Christine and Al moved to Valley View Village in 1991.

Christine was a long time member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Radcliffe, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma (Beta Theta Chapter) and the AARP.

Survivors include her sister, Virginia Bird of Des Moines, her brother, Paul Terry of St. Paul, MN, and her sister, Janet (Arthur) Hedberg of Des Moines. She will be remembered by many generations of her students and greatly missed by her loving nieces and nephews.

Christine was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred; her siblings, William Terry, Robert Terry, Dick Terry, Mary Good, Barbara Sieser; and her nephews, Christopher Hedberg, Dixon Terry and Raygene Hodnefiled.

The family will receive friends 4-6:00 PM Wednesday at Iles Grandview Park Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church in Radcliffe, IA or the Alzheimer's Association.
