Clarence "Coop" Cooper, 80, passed away on April 3, 2012 at Veterans Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Monday, April 9, 2012 at Iles Funeral Homes – Grandview Park Chapel. Burial will follow at Iowa Veterans Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 5-7pm, Sunday at the funeral home.

Coop was born on January 3, 1932 the son of Vern and Helen Cooper in Stuart, Iowa. He lived most of his life in Des Moines. Coop faithfully served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Coop worked as a diesel mechanic for over 50 years and owned his own business, Lonetree Truck Service. Coop loved fishing and music. He sang and played guitar and banjo. He was a member of the International Association of Machinist Union.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Phyllis; daughter, Sheri (Larry) Lage of Calif; two sons, Timothy (Kathie) Cooper of Des Moines and Michael Cooper of Indiana; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren, sister, Kathryn (David) Drake and brother, Russell (Donna) Cooper of Oregon.
