Obituary

Colette Sue Prohaska, 59, passed away Friday, December 30, 2022, at home surrounded by loved ones, in Grimes, IA. The family will receive friends from 4 - 7 pm, Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Iles Brandt Chapel in Dallas Center, Iowa . Services will be held Thursday, January 5, 2023, 10 am, at Iles Brandt Chapel . Burial will follow at Sunny Hill Cemetery in Grimes, Iowa.

Colette was born May 23, 1963, in Storm Lake, IA, to Gary and Marjorie (Vierow) Kramer. As a young child the family moved to Rochelle, IL. In 1978 Colette's family moved back to the family farm in Palmer, IA. She attended Palmer High School and graduated in 1981. Colette excelled in basketball and volleyball. After graduating from high school, she attended DMACC in Ankeny, IA, and received an associated's degree in Medical Secretarial Studies.

She married Dan Prohaska on September 10, 1988. The two made their home in Grimes, IA, where they raised their four sons.

Colette was motivated to be a great mother. She guided her children in every aspect of their lives. She never missed a sporting event or Boy Scout ceremony; she was their biggest fan. It was her greatest achievement and honor to be their mom.

She enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Her favorite TV show to binge watch was Friends. She also enjoyed spending time with her girlfriends. Colette really enjoyed baking last minute treats for events and gatherings. Her boys' favorites are too many to list:)

Colette worked as a Medical Secretary for 3 different doctors in the Des Moines area. Her last employment was for 17 years with Dr. Thomas Wilson, DDS., Orthodontist.

Colette is survived by her husband, Dan Prohaska, four sons, Stephen (Sydney) Prohaska, Joshua (Allison) Prohaska and their son Lane, Joseph Prohaska, Jacob Prohaska; mother, Marjorie Kramer; brother, Wayne (Roxanne) Kramer; a loving niece, nephews, family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Gary Kramer.
