Cora Van Houwelinge, 98, of Green Bay, WI, formerly of Des Moines, passed from this life on Saturday, July 15, 2006 at the Odd Fellows Home in Green Bay. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 24, at Iles Funeral Homes – Westover Chapel in Des Moines, where the family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Glendale Cemetery, in Des Moines.

Cora was born on September 4, 1907 in Otley, IA to Benjamin and Tryntje (Tol) Van Engelenhoven. She had attended A.I.B Business College, after moving to Des Moines. Cora was formerly employed with Younkers and the State of Iowa. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Des Moines. Cora made her home in Des Moines for over 55 years, until she moved to Green Bay, to live with one of her daughters, Tryna. Just three weeks ago, she then moved to the Odd Fellows Home and lived there until the time of her death. Cora loved to spend time in her gardens and will be remembered for her wonderful pie baking.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Tryna Mae Hinckley of Green Bay, WI and Gloria Piatt of Des Moines; four grandchildren, Steven Harris, Kenneth Harris III, Brian Hinckley and Bonnie Lardinois; ten great-grandchildren, Steven II, Jordan, Kaylen, Kenneth IV, Schuylar, Mason, Tina, Deb, Nicole and Sheri; four great-great-grandchildren, Alexis, Anthony, Christopher and Makayla; one sister, Katie Vroom of Pella, IA; and many nieces and nephews. Cora was preceded in death by her parents; two sons-in-law, Dr. Claude Hinckley and David Piatt; two great-grandchildren, Melissa Lardinois and Patrick Harris; six sisters, Johanna Den Adel, Jennie Dykstra, Ethel Menninga, Bessie Kuiper, Elva Monster and Carrie Steenhoek; and three brothers, Rev. Everett Van Engelenhoven, John B. Van Engelenhoven and Arie, who died at infancy.
