Obituary

Deacon Edgardo (Ed) Constantino Pantaloni, 94, of Grimes, IA passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, April 13, 2025. He was born on December 16, 1930 in Camden, NJ to Concetto Saverio and Laura (Berdini) Pantaloni. Ed lived in New Jersey for 49 years, graduating from La Salle College High School in 1949 and then from La Salle College in 1966 with a B.S. degree in Industrial Management.

Ed married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy (Dottie) Jane Lind, on October 9, 1954. They were blessed to have 52 years together until Dottie’s passing in 2007. Throughout their marriage, Ed and Dottie also lived in Sandy, UT, Marion, IA, and Grimes, IA.

As a Radarman, Ed served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years and 1 day on the USS Midway during the Korean War.

Ed was ordained a Deacon in 1989 where he was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church in Marion, IA and then served at St Pius X Church in Urbandale, IA. His passions within his church community was in the RCIA program, as hospital chaplain, helping the hungry, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He truly was a servant of God and touched many lives through his love of Christ.

You often could find Ed gardening, cooking, and entertaining. He enjoyed spending time with children in Junior Achievement, spending days down the shore playing “shells” on the beach, watching the Phillies and then the Cubs, going for drives and spending time with his family, especially his “most favorite” granddaughter. He always welcomed people into his home and enjoyed sharing a drink and telling corny jokes.

Ed worked for RCA and Rockwell Avionics in the Purchasing/Buyer Departments. During his career he was awarded many achievements for his ability to educate, communicate, and collaborate between many departments, vendors, and colleagues.

Ed is survived by his son, Gary Pantaloni of Pine Hill, NJ; daughter, Joanne (Jim) Elmer of Johnston, IA; granddaughter, Jacey (Chris) Thies; sister, Lillian Yearly; nephews, Christopher and Jonathan Yearly; and many friends and the Diaconate community.
