Deanna Halsted Obituary

Deanna Lynn Halsted, 58, passed away at her home in Ankeny, Iowa on Friday, May 23, 2025 surrounded by her family. Deanna was born in Des Moines, Iowa on August 23, 1966 to Robert William & Anna Mary (Burton) Halsted.

Deanna graduated from Ruby Van Meter School in Des Moines and then went on to live and work at Opportunity Village in Clear Lake, Iowa processing information packets for assorted window companies. In February of 2023 she came to live at her ‘Forever Home’ at Mainstream Living in Ankeny to be closer to family.

Deanna always had a contagious smile that lit up the room. She loved her family and enjoyed watching their activities, and being together for the holidays. Her room was filled with family portraits, special drawings, and her photo books. Anyone associated with Deanna was well versed in the movie “Grease”. This was her favorite movie (she kept 2 DVD’s, one as back up) and subjected everyone to several viewings at a time. Deanna loved her ‘bling’, always decked out with bracelets, necklaces, and rings.

Survivors include sister Melody (Steve) Webb, nieces Mekenna (Cory) Eshelman, & Metaya (Lucas) Lawman, and great nieces and nephews Kenzley & Ruger Eshelman, and Bo, Brynn, & Brant Lawman. Preceding her in death were her parents Bob & Mary Halsted and Aunt Jeanne (Leland) Buckalew.

Deanna’s family will greet friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Iles Grandview Park Chapel, 3211 Hubbell Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50317. A funeral service will begin at 2:00pm Friday, May 30, 2025 at the Iles Grandview Chapel with burial to follow at Warren-Powers Cemetery, Runnells, Iowa.
