Doris Anne was born July 19, 1918 in Harlan, Iowa to LeRoy and Minnie (Frederickson) Christiansen. She graduated from Harlan High School in 1936 as valedictorian of her class. She attended The University of Iowa from 1936 – 1940 on an academic scholarship, graduating in 1940 with a degree in Piano Performance. Her professor was Dr. Clapp, Department Head. Following graduation she became a music instructor in public schools in Iowa, and later in Ohio, as well as providing private instruction in piano for many years.

Doris Anne met Marcus B. Anderson at The University of Iowa Library where she was working when Marc came to get a reserved book at the library while working on his Master's Degree. They were married February 28, 1943. Following Marc's Navy tour of duty, his employment with Equitable of the U.S. took them to various cities in Minnesota, Rhode Island and Ohio before they retired to West Des Moines.

Mrs. Anderson has been a resident of Wesley Acres in Des Moines for the past nine years where she often played the piano for residents. She enjoyed music concerts, especially the Des Moines Symphony, Lori Line, and the annual Christmas Festival at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. Her memberships include Plymouth Congregational Church, PEO Chapter LA, and The University of Iowa Alumni Association.

Survivors include two nieces, Catharine Christiansen Hollenberg of Clarks Summit, PA, and Laura Christiansen Morse of Boston, MA, and their children, Thomas Hollenberg of London, Allison Morse and Amy Morse Winslow, great grandniece Hadley Winslow, and great grandnephew Nate Winslow, also of Boston, two nieces-in-law, as well as cousins residing in Harlan and Omaha; and many dear friends in Iowa and throughout the United States.
