Obituary

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3300 Easton Blvd., in Des Moines for Dorothy O'Connor, 92, who died May 4 from pneumonia at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.

Dorothy, who had resided in Des Moines since 1963, had lived at Beaverdale Estates Retirement Residence for the past three years.

A native of Edina, Missouri, Dorothy attended Chillicothe (Missouri) Business College before moving to Kansas City, Missouri. She married Richard O'Connor in 1938, and the couple was married for 53 years before Richard died in 1992. Prior to settling in Des Moines, they lived in Kansas City, Creston, Iowa, Oskaloosa, Iowa, West Des Moines and Sioux City, Iowa.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Eileen, who passed away in 1946 at the age of three. She is survived by three sons: James, Valley, Nebraska, John, Des Moines and Tom, Omaha; 16 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Carl Krieghauser of Edina, Missouri.

She worked for many years as the children's hostess for the Bishop's Buffet Cafeteria in the Merle Hay Plaza Des Moines. She also was active for several years as a volunteer at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston, Iowa.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m., Wednesday, prior to the service, where the family will receive friends and say prayers at Iles Grandview Park Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Edina Cemetery, Edina, MO.
