Obituary

Earl Ernest Brauckman, 81, passed away Wednesday, June 27, at Kennybrook Village in Grimes. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 30, at Assumption Catholic Church in Granger. Burial will be at Beaver Catholic Cemetery. The family will greet family and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 29, at the church.

Earl was born September 25, 1930, in Dedham, Iowa, to Theodore and Theresa Brauckman. He attended St. Joseph's School in Dedham. On July 28, 1951, he was united in marriage to Betty Ann Moulds in Jackson, Minnesota. They were married 49 years. Earl served as a U.S. Army corporal during the Korean War. He was a 50 year member of American Legion Post 717 in Granger. For eight years he served as Legion Commander. For two years he was Dallas County Legion Commander. Earl was a tire builder for 28 years at Firestone Tire and Rubber and a proud member of United Rubber Workers Local 310. An avid outdoors man, he enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, fishing, hunting and trapping. He also liked to repair lawnmowers.

Earl is survived by his children, Chris (Randy) Perkins, Pat (Jerry) Goedken, Jim (Sharon) Brauckman, Bill (Arine) Brauckman, Laura (Rob)Cain; 13 grandchildren, Brian Perkins, David Perkins, Tom Perkins, Nick Perkins, Tim Goedken, Kristin (Goedken) Schmaltz, Jeremy Brauckman, Jeff Brauckman, Jackie (Brauckman) Bong, Bridget Tengbal, Leyna Brauckman, Lindsay (Cain) Washington, Caitlin Cain; and three great-grandchildren, Taylor Perkins, Ashley Perkins, Lily Perkins. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty (2001); his parents, a son, Thomas; a granddaughter, Alyssa; six brothers; and four sisters.
