Edward Beard Obituary

Edward F. Beard, 61, of Des Moines, IA passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

Ed was born October 30, 1961, in Washington, DC to Edward and Marilyn (Hamer) Beard. He received his education in Weedsport, NY where he graduated. He continued at Alfred University later transferring to Iowa State University in Ames where he was a member of ACACIA Fraternity and received his degree in Psychology.

He worked for the State in Iowa for over 30 years as a Social Worker. Following his retirement, he worked at Iowa Total Care as a Case Manager.

Ed enjoyed watching the Iowa State Cyclones football and basketball teams, playing video games, photography and astronomy.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife Tina, two children, Scott Beard of Chicago and Sarah (Steven) Parsley and their children Lucas and Charlotte of Altoona, two sisters Lori (Greg) Raymond of Shelter Island, NY and Janet (Bobby) Riley of Laurel Hill, FL.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at the Iles-Grandview Park Chapel where a visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 4-7 p.m. Burial will be at the Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.
