Eleanor Antionette Nadeje Jewett, 94, died Friday, September 29, 2006. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral.

She was born in New York City, N.Y., July 27, 1912, a daughter of Anthony Charles Nadeje and Marie Sukop Nadeje. She completed her early education at the Hunter College Model Primary School, attended the New York City Public Schools and graduated from Julia Richmond High School in 1930. After graduation, she studied art and design on a scholarship from a local art institute. She graduated from New York University in 1949 with a bachelor's degree in economics and Spanish. She also completed graduate work at New York University in business.

She worked as an executive secretary in advertising and human resources at the National Broadcasting Company in Rockefeller Plaza from 1936 to 1962. She traveled in South America, Mexico, Cuba, and Hawaii on assignment. She assisted with recording sessions of Rosemary Clooney as well as Toscanini.

She married Kirkwood Edmund Jewett, Jr. in 1962 and moved to Des Moines. They traveled extensively in the Caribbean and the British Isles, as well as California and New York.

She was a volunteer and member of the Members Council of the Des Moines Art Center, the Des Moines Women's Club, the Des Moines Symphony, the American Association of University Women, the Yale Club, and St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral.

She was preceded by her brother, Theodore Nadeje; her parents, Anthony Charles Nadeje and Marie Sukop Nadeje; and her husband, Kirkwood Edmund Jewett, Jr. Survivors include her friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
