Eleanor was born August 30, 1916 on a farm near Pocahontas, IA to Frank and Rose (Hotovec) Stejskal. She married John J. She lived a life of service and enjoyed taking care of others. Her church activities included membership in Legion of Mary and Altar and Rosary Society, working as a special education religion catechist, visiting the sick, preparing countless funeral dinners, and attending daily mass.

Survivors include her children: Father David Polich of Perry, Margaret (Jack) Cavanagh of Des Moines, and Ed (Katy) Polich of Des Moines; grandchildren: Kristin (Jason) Vogel of Clive, Thomas Cavanagh of Des Moines, Alisha (Marshall) Henry of Johnston, and Gabriel Polich of Des Moines; great-grandchildren: Kate and Andrew Vogel; sisters: Ann (Ray) Harrold, Judy Flaherty, and Marie Pattee, all of Pocahontas; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; and brothers, Joe and Frank Stejskal.

Eleanor's family wishes to thank the staff at Bishop Drumm for their wonderful and compassionate care.
