Obituary

Elmore "Shorty" Forrest Jr., 87, passed away August 10, 2007 at Mercy Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 15 at Westover Funeral Home with burial following at Pine Hill Cemetery.

Elmore was born March 31, 1920 in Des Moines where he resided most of his life. "Shorty" was a World War II veteran. He enjoyed playing softball, stock car racing, singing with the Barbershop Quartet and mostly helping his friends and family. Elmore was inducted into the Des Moines Softball Hall of Fame in July of 1996.

He is survived by his wife, Doris; son, Craig (Marge) of Urbandale and daughter, Cheryl Patterson (Bill) of Des Moines; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Nancy Fagen (Elmer) and Helen Dix of California and three brothers, Dale (Tootie), Lou (Carol) and LeRoy (Sheryl) of Des Moines.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. with family and friends at Westover Funeral Home.
