Obituary

Estee Weaver Brandt, 97, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2008 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Iles Funeral Homes – Grandview Park Chapel. Burial will be at Rising Sun Cemetery.

Estee was born on November 14, 1911 in Rising Sun, Iowa to Nettie (Iseminger) and Pirl Weaver. After high school, she attended Drake University. Estee was united in marriage to Larry H. Brandt in 1939. Together they owned Office Specialty Company. In 1971, Larry and Estee built and opened the Prayer House in Tucson, Arizona. They spent a portion of each year living in Des Moines and Tempe.

Estee was an active member of Rising Sun Church of Christ, Des Moines Women's Club and Eastern Star. Throughout her life, she enjoyed the study of scripture and had the opportunity to do so in Edinburgh under Dr. Barclay. She traveled on several missions overseas, taught classes and Sunday school at church, and participated in many women's groups.

Estee is survived by six of her seven nieces and nephews, their families and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, brother, sister, niece and parents.

The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Taylor House Hospice or charity of your choice.
