Esther Barbleh was born on to the union of Mr. Barbleh Quaye and Ms. Zarkpa Dunner on January 1, 1939 in Gedegloh Town Konobo District, Grand Gedeh County, Liberia. During her life Mother Esther was able to escape the war in Liberia, flee to the Ivory Coast and eventually made her way to America in 2003. Though Mother Esther came to America at an older age she was yet able to fulfill her American dream. She became fluent in English, was able to get her American citizenship, and even built a house in Liberia that her son Collins and his family are living in now.

Mother Esther, age 81, passed away at home on October 12, 2020 at 5:00 a.m. in Des Moines, Iowa. She was survived by three living children: Victoria, Collins, and Melvin. After living in St. Louis for 10 years, Mother Esther then moved to Kansas City to live with her youngest daughter, Cecelia Shellue who sadly passed away two years ago. After Cecelia’s sudden death Mother Esther moved to Des Moines, Iowa at the beginning of this year to be with her other daughter Victoria. Before leaving this earth to be with God, Mother Esther lived long enough to see 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Mother Esther was very caring. She loved everyone and was always ready to help others. The memory of Mother Esther will remain with us like a scar.
