Esther Marie Fyler, 74, entered her eternal life on Friday, March 7, 2008, at Fleur Heights Care Center in Des Moines. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 10, at St. Malachy's Catholic Church in Madrid, of which she was a member. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, south of Madrid.

Esther was born on February 10, 1934 in Madrid, Iowa to Ernest Andrew and Margaret Ann (Morgan) Cavanaugh. She graduated from Madrid High School. Esther later married and moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota until returning to Madrid in 1969. She worked at Western Printing in Madrid, in the Bindery Department for 21 years, until retiring in 1999. She enjoyed spending extra time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons, Craig Fyler and Cory Fyler both of Des Moines; daughters, Cindy O'Dea and her husband Clint of Indianola, Cathy Ames of Ormond Beach, FL and Crissy Sinclair of Polk City; seven grandchildren, James, Nicholas, Samantha, Andrew, Taylor, Tyler and Jessica; brothers, Hugh (Doris) Cavanaugh of Woodward, Oliver (Carol) Cavanaugh of Des Moines and Charles (Rosemary) Cavanaugh of Ankeny; one sister, Garnet Galetich of Madrid; and several nieces and nephews. Esther was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Elizabeth Isaacson, Sarah Tesdahl, Bertha McCann, Teresa Wilson and Mary Cavanaugh; and brothers, Ernest Cavanaugh and John Cavanaugh.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, at Sundberg-Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Madrid, where a vigil service will begin at 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to either American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all the staff at Fleur Heights Care Center for their excellent care, love and support Esther received during her stay.
