Obituary

Ethel DeMarce passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2005 at Scottish Rite Park in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at Westover Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Masonic cemetery.

Ethel was born on July 15, 1908 in Des Moines, the daughter of Lawrence Carmer and Elizabeth Craycraft. She married Nelson A. DeMarce on March 22, 1937 in Des Moines.

Ethel was employed for the majority of her career as a supervisor with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Des Moines. After retirement, she worked part time with Mr. Tax of America and enjoyed traveling throughout the world.

Ethel was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church and participated in their big kids club. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Pioneers Club of Northwestern Bell, Daughters Of the Nile, and volunteered with Planned Parent Hood organization and Hospice of Central Iowa.

She is survived by her son, Jerry L. DeMarce (Virginia) of Silvis, IL; daughter, Joan DeMarce Rutledge (Mike) of Nevada City, CA; granddaughter, Julie Bain (Dan) of Des Moines; and two great grandsons.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at Westover Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa or to Scottish Rite Park -Good Brotherhood Fund.
