Faith Blomgren Storey died March 11, 2012 in Des Moines, IA. She was born in Gowrie, IA on March 8, 1918. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Herman and Minnie Swanson Blomgren and by Charles Edward Storey her husband of 63 years.

Faith is survived by her sister Beth Quist (Robert) of Columbus, OH; daughters, Judy Bohrofen (Eldon) of Kohler, WI, and Jane Palmer (Jim) of Oak Ridge, TN; four grandchildren, Heather Bohrofen (Mike) of Santa Barbara, CA, FL; Peter Bohrofen (Christin) of Hamilton, OH; Amy Messinger (David) of Los Angeles, CA, Stephanie Palmer (Griffin) also of Los Angeles, CA; four great grandchildren, Carter Bohrofen, Elise Bohrofen, Milo Messinger and Soren Messinger, and a niece and nephews.

Mrs. Storey graduated from Iowa State University in 1939. Upon graduation, she taught High School Home Economics and Adult Education in Charlton, IA.

Mrs. Storey was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Des Moines where she was the first woman to serve as a Council member, as an Elder of the congregation, and as president of WELCA. She was also a long-time member of the Lois Circle.

Mrs. Storey was also a dedicated member of several community organizations, serving as a board member of Iowa Lutheran Church Women, member and President of Chapter JZ of PEO, president of the Des Moines Reciprocity Bureau of PEO, Chairman of the Board of the Iowa Heart Association, and member and president of the Chauncey Depew Study Club. She and Charles were also active members of Wakonda Club. Both enjoyed managing their family farms in association with Alan Burger in Gowrie, IA.

Mr. and Mrs. Storey took pleasure in spending winters in their home in Green Valley, AZ where they often entertained friends and gathered their family for Christmas. Through the years they saw the world together with annual trips to diverse locations and filled their home with unusual keepsakes collected while traveling. Beth and Bob Quist were favorite travel companions. They enjoyed sharing family times at their cottage on Round Lake in Nisswa, MN. When her grandchildren were young she treated each one to an annual "Grandma Heaven," which included a week at her home with trips to the toy store, Adventureland, the Science Center and just about anything else a grandchild could desire.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to her Circle and PEO sisters for keeping Faith in their prayers and reaching out to her on a regular basis as her health declined. Also the family wants to thank the dedicated staff in the Scottish Rite Healthcare Center.

A memorial service in celebration of Faith's life will be held on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 11:30 AM at Scottish Rite Park, 2909 Woodland Ave., in the Penthouse. A graveside service will follow at the Gowrie Township Cemetery, Gowrie, IA at 3:00 PM.
