Frank S. Severino, Sr. was born June 26, 1941, in Des Moines, Iowa to Charles and Gilda Severino. Frank attended St. Anthony’s Catholic Grade School, Dowling Catholic High School and graduated from Drake University. He was a Captain in the United States Air Force stationed at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska. On June 20, 1964, Frank married Margaret Hagie and lived in Urbandale, Iowa for many years.

Frank held several positions throughout his work career including the Health Policy Corporation of Iowa but what he enjoyed the most was his years spent at the Iowa State Capitol as a multi-client lobbyist. Frank actively volunteered on several campaigns as a strategist. Frank served on the Urbandale Planning and Zoning Commission and the Dowling Catholic High School Board.

Frank found happiness in attending his children’s and grandchildren’s extracurricular activities where he was their biggest supporter. He enjoyed monthly gatherings with his childhood classmates at Noah’s Ark. Frank indulged in authentic Italian cooking that he loved to share with family and friends. He had a generous heart and a giving spirit that he shared with friends and strangers alike. He was devoted to praying the rosary daily and attending mass.

Frank is survived by his wife of 59 years Margaret and children all of Des Moines, daughter, Susan Fenton (Scotney), son, Frank, Jr., and daughter, Melissa Linder (Steve). His grandchildren Ben Severino, Chicago, Katie Severino, Des Moines, Sam Linder (Gabby), Ankeny, Will Linder, Omaha, Sarah Linder, Urbandale and John Fenton, Des Moines. Sisters, Rose Marie Schneider Hunter of Johnston, IA and Joy Lepere (Victor) of Virginia Beach VA, brothers-in-law Ted West, Barrington IL, John Hagie (Barb), Clarion IA. A special thank you to the staff and friends of Brio in Johnston and his devoted home health nurse, Setit Abebe.
