G.W. "George" Greimann of Des Moines died Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Fountain West Care Center in West Des Moines. He was 82.

George was born November 26, 1932, near Kellerton, IA. After his graduation from Mount Ayr High School in 1951, he worked as a surveyor for Ringgold County. He then served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps as a Radio/Telephone Communications specialist for three years, spending 16 months in South Korea.

In 1956, George moved to Des Moines. He met Rose McMahan while working at her father's Texaco filling station. They were married in 1959, and had two daughters.

After the station closed, George worked as a salesman of engineered products, then became a trouble shooter for various power plants and process control systems in factories throughout the central US. He retired in 2000 after 14 years with Mercy Hospital in the maintenance department.

George was a member of Acanthus Masonic Lodge, and Acanthus O.E.S. However, he most enjoyed being the Rainbow Dad while his daughters were active in the order. He was also an active assistant to Rose, helping with her Bluebird and Camp Fire Groups. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, and enjoyed visits from members while he was at Fountain West.

George was preceded in death by his wife, Rose, in 2011. He is survived by daughters, Denise (Bill) Blakely of Alleman, and Kim (Jim) Stocks of Ankeny; grandchildren, Benjamin (Afton) Blakely, Adam "A.J." Stocks, Aaron Blakely, Michael Stocks, Mark Stocks, Sarah Blakely, and Tina Stocks, and great-granddaughter, Sofia Rose Blakely.

A Memorial Service with a Masonic Service will be held Saturday, January 24 at 11:00 at Iles-Westover Chapel in Des Moines. There will be a visitation with the family preceding the services from 9:30 - 11:00 am. Interment will be in Masonic Cemetery.
