Genevieve was born to Carl and Elizabeth (Bartosky) Neuzil on July 27, 1913 in Iowa City, Iowa. She attended schools in Iowa City and graduated from Iowa City High School. She graduated with a business degree from the College of Commerce, University of Iowa in 1933. Genevieve then worked as a typist and as a secretary for the Nutrition Office at the University Hospital. After interviewing with visiting insurance company personnel, Genevieve was offered a position with Central Life Assurance Company, Des Moines, which later became Aviva plc.

Genevieve was a member of Saint Theresa's Catholic Church where she played the piano and was the first choir director for 13 years. She was a member of the Des Moines Cathedral Choir, Catholic Daughters of America, Bishop Drumm Guild, and the Catholic Order of Foresters. She also was a member of the Terrace Hill Society, and one of the first women to work in the Terrace Hill gift shop. She enjoyed playing bridge with family and friends until she developed problems recently with her eyesight. Genevieve was always grateful to her family, friends, and extended family at St. Theresa's for their concern; and friends and family appreciate the care and comfort received from 3801 Grand, Mercy Hospital and Mercy Hospice - Johnston.
