Obituary

Genevieve R. Lubbers, 92, died peacefully at Wesley Acres on Thursday, September 1, 2005. Memorial services will be held at Plymouth Congregational Church of Christ in Des Moines on Wednesday, September 7 at 2:30 p.m.
Genevieve was born on December 30, 1912, in Orange City, Iowa. She was the first-born of the eight children of Helena Doeksen and Albertus Lubbers.
Genevieve was the Secretary to the President of American Mutual Life Insurance for more than 40 years, retiring in 1977. She was a Certified Professional Secretary and a Fellow of the Life Office Management Association Institute.
She will forever be remembered for her devoted volunteer work at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Blank Children's Hospital and Plymouth Congregational Church. She was also a very active member of the Blank Hospital Guild, The National Secretaries Association and American Mutual Life Retirees.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Elene Rensink, Kathryn Royall, Anna Marie Weltge and Ruth Miles; and two of her nephews, Larry Foreman and Mark Weltge.
She is survived by her three brothers, Roy and wife, Lois of Sheldon, Iowa; Willard and wife, Virginia of Spencer, Iowa and Gilbert of Spokane, Washington; brothers-in-law, Reverend Ed Weltge of Nashville, Illinois and Dan Miles of Los Alamos, New Mexico. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their children living throughout the United States.
Genevieve's family will greet friends one half hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may
be made to the Blank Children's Hospital Guild or Plymouth Congregational Church, both of Des Moines.
