Obituary

George W. Madison, 93, passed peacefully on Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Legacy Village Care Center in Waukee. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 12, at Iles Funeral Homes - Westover Chapel in Des Moines. Burial with military honors will follow at Masonic Cemetery in Des Moines.

George William Madison was born on June 30, 1917 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to George W. and Catherine (Miller) Madison. He was joined in marriage to Bette Helen Boltz on October 21, 1941. From this union were born four daughters, Sandy (Lonnie) Wooten of Albuquerque NM, Debbie (Gregg) Munson of Flagstaff AZ, Cindy (Michael) Hollinger of Clive, IA, and Sallie Guynn of Urbandale.

George was a graduate of Lincoln High School, a member of Auburn Lodge AF&FM, The Veterans of Foreign Wars, and attended First Federated Church. He was an avid fisherman, loved gardening and spending time with his children and family.

He is survived by his daughters, twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and five brothers and two sisters. George was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Bette Madison; and two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 11, at the funeral home.
