Georgiana Hoerster Obituary

Georgiana (Georgie) Clare Hoerster of Des Moines, Iowa, daughter of George and Marie Wolbert of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and wife of 59 years to Julius F. Hoerster, Jr. went into eternal rest on November 15, 2023, at the Iowa Jewish Senior Life Center.

Georgiana was an entrepreneur of the 60s, being a leader in the home party sales of Tupperware; all while raising six children: Frank, Mary (Paul) Edman, Anne (Leroy) Timmerman, Paul (Susan), Patrice, and George. She lived to enjoy the company of five grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.

In her mid-career, she enjoyed serving customers in the drive through of a Savings and Loan, which she made sure you never confused with a Bank. In later years, she held the position of receptionist at Heather manor and Ramsey Village, which she held until age 90.

She was a woman of faith, very involved in her church. She had a deep devotion to the Blessed Mother, leading the Rosary devotion at church every Sunday. She also believed of a life in service of others, a legacy she passed to her children.

She was active in many organizations such as Girl Scouts, the Rosary Society, and Blue Goose International, to name a few. She was a fierce player of bridge. Whether she enjoyed yard work or gardening is unknown, but it is true that no weed ever survived the paths she walked.

Georgie was preceded in death by her parents, husband and infant grandson Nicholas.

Visitation will be Sunday November 19th from 2-4 pm at ILES-Dunn's Chapel.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Augustin Catholic Church on Monday, November 20, at 10 am with interment at Glendale Cemetery following the mass.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St Augustin Church in Des Moines, Iowa.
